E.O. Smith High School Grapplers Qualify for State Open

The Panthers had three placewinners at the Class L championships.

BRISTOL, CT — A trio of wrestlers from E.O. Smith High School will be competing in the State Open next weekend, following impressive performances in the Class L championships at Bristol Central High School.

The Panthers had three individual placewinners, tying for 11th in team competition with 83.5 points.

For the first time since 1996, Bristol Eastern won the Class L title, edging New Milford by a 231-230 margin. Daniel Hand was third with 143.5 points.

The State Open will begin Friday, Feb. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
