Edsall Coming Back to Lead UConn Football Program

Rumors of Randy Edsall coming back to Husky Nation have been circulating for weeks.

STORRS, CT — The University of Connecticut is bringing back former football coach Randy Edsall, school officials said on Wednesday.

UConn said he was coming back in a Tweet via the football program's account at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Edsall coached UConn from 1999 until a period hours after the 2011 Fiesta Bowl.

He led UConn's transition from Division I-AA to Division I-A under the pre-playoff college football system.

Rumors have circulated from various sources about the imminent hiring for weeks, even before Bob Diaco was let go the day after Christmas.

Edsall compiled a record of 74-70 at UConn.
