Modern Dance & Contact Improvisation
Ages 12+ with 5 or more years of dance experience

This workshop will allow dancers, actors and movers to learn how to use personal space and contact to create design, momentum and shape. By exploring the use of positive and negative space, tension and pressure, leverage and counter balance, students will understand the main principles of contact improvisation, weight sharing and elementary partnering.

Tiana Mancuso is Artistic Director for the Dance Department at A.C.T Magnet High School in Willimantic, CT, where she teaches Modern and Contemporary Technique, Ballet, Dance History and Composition. In addition, Tiana teaches Ballet, Modern and Musical Theater at Aprille’s Danceprints in Ellington, CT and is on Faculty at University of Hartford, Hartt School Community Division. Tiana has performed with Stop/Time Dance Theater, Breakin’ Through in Eastern CT with choreographer Nichola Johnson, as well as with DancEnlight in Hartford, CT under artistic director Lorelei Chang.
