New classes and a few format for spring Early Childhood Music classes at the Community School of the Arts are forming. For a small, per-family fee, children and their parents can attend any of the EC Music Classes offered, dropping in on different sessions as time and space permits. Bring your infant to the Tuesday Infant Class, and attend Family Music Making together on Wednesday and Saturday - all for one low fee.
- Family Music Making for the WHOLE family....this class is designed for families so that multiple siblings are able to attend and participate. Singing, movement and instrumental play will all be based in a repertoire of folk and world music. Families will be encouraged to make music together...and significant attention will be paid to group movement experiences and instrumental exploration. 4 sessions available each week.
- Infant Music Class, for ages birth to 1 year. Babies and parents will explore musical sound, color and movement through singing, nursery rhymes, changes, dance and instrument exploration. The primary focus of the class is fostering social interaction and creating a space for special bonding between infants and their parent/caregiver through a musical repertoire. 2 sessions available each week.
- Music for the Young (ages 18 months‐3 years, with parent) in which children (and parents) develop vocal, movement and rhythmic skills through a repertoire of singing songs, chants, nursery rhymes, instrumental play, movement activities, and singing games. 2 sessions available each week.
- Music Time (ages 3 & 4). This 45‐minute class is designed for children without parental participation in order to encourage children to become more independent music makers, and is based on the musical foundations of listening, singing, moving, creating and playing instruments. Musical experiences include vocal exploration, circle games, expressive movement, rhythmic speech and instrument play.
New fee options are: No charge for the first two classes, after that $10/class -or- $75 for the entire semester for the whole family.
