Fatal Overdose Leads Troopers to Conspiracy Between Victim and Associate to Steal Drugs in Mansfield: Report
Police began investigating the matter after a woman died of an overdose.

MANSFIELD/ASHFORD, CT — A fatal drug overdose led state police to charge an Ashford woman with conspiring with the deceased while she was still alive to steal a potent drug from a Mansfield business, an arrest report indicates.
The case dates back to Sept. 8 when troopers from the Eastern District Major Crime Squad began investigating an overdose that resulted in a death of an Ashford woman, according to an arrest report.
The woman died shortly after she was found at her Ashford home, state police said. State police in an arrest report said there were "obvious signs of narcotic use at the scene."

An investigation then determined that Jessica Hill, 46, of Ashford, had conspired with the now-dead woman to steal morphine from the now-dead woman's place of employment in Mansfield. The two brought the stolen drugs to Ashford to use at the now-dead woman's residence, according to an arrest report.
The only reference to the workplace in an arrest report was Higgins Way in Mansfield.

Hill was charged with criminal conspiracy, illegal possession of narcotics, third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny, according to an arrest report. She was arrested on Monday, and is due in court on Jan. 9, state police said.
