Former UConn Track Star Wins Olympic Bobsled Medal
Former University of Connecticut track and field standout Phylicia George was part of the Canada 1 bobsled team that took a medal Wednesday.

STORRS, CT — Former University of Connecticut track and field standout Phylicia George was part of the Canada 1 bobsled team that took the bronze medal Wednesday morning at the Winter Olympics.
George teamed up with driver Kaillie Humphries to earn the podium spot.
Humphries and George finished their set of four runs with a time of 3:22.89, according to NBC's Olympic results page.

Germany's Mariama Jamanka and Lisa Buckwitz took the gold medal with a time of in 3:22.45.
The USA's Elena Meyers Taylor and Lauren Gibbs won the silver medal in 3:22.52.

George is a 2010 UConn graduate. As a Husky, she was part of the 100-meter relay team that set a ECAC outdoor championship record with a time of 44.43 seconds.
She set the 100-meter hurdle record at UConn with a time of 13.39 at the 2010 Big East championships.
Her time of 8.33 in the 60-meter hurdles was the fastest in program history when she was in school.
George was also in the summer Olympics. She was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles at the London Olympics in 2012 and followed that up with an eighth-place performance at the 2016 Rio games.
