Four UConn Players Selected in Major League Baseball Draft

They are among 15 players with Connecticut ties chosen in this year's amateur draft.

STORRS, CT — After three days, 40 rounds and 1,215 names announced, the Major League Baseball draft ended Wednesday with 15 players with Connecticut ties selected by major league organizations.

Four players from the University of Connecticut were among the draftees: RHP Wills Montgomerie (6th round, Los Angeles Dodgers), RHP John Russell (16th round, San Francisco Giants), SS Willy Yahn (25th round, Baltimore Orioles) and LHP Doug Domnarski (27th round, Miami Marlins).
