Georgia Woman Nabbed for Hacking $700K from UConn Account
A lengthy investigation by UConn police led to computer crimes charges against a Georgia woman.

STORRS, CT — A Georgia woman has been charged with secretly intercepting and diverting more than $700,000 from a University of Connecticut account.
An investigation that began in June led UConn police to Muthini Nzuki, 39, of Kennesaw, GA. She is accused of hacking into a bill pay account and changing the routing number for UConn funds supposed to be going to the Dell computer company, UConn police said. The funds — $773,000 and change — went into her personal bank account in Georgia instead, UConn police said.
The scheme took place between April 12 and May 9 and was discovered on June 21, UConn police said.

Nzuki also operated under the alias Jane Kiio, UConn police said.
A judge at Rockville Superior Court signed off on a warrant for Nzuki's arrest on Aug. 16 and she was picked up by the Cobb County Sheriff's Office on Aug. 24, according to a report. She fought extradition, but a governor's warrant brought her to Connecticut on Thursday.
