Grounding Touch Therapeutic Massage Opens its Doors in Mansfield

As of this past September, the Town of Mansfield has a new reason to feel healthy and mobile. Grounding Touch Therapeutic Massage has opened its doors at 1066 Storrs Rd. and celebrated the occasion with an Open House this past Sunday, Nov. 27.

The business actually began in August of 2007 when owner, Karen Jensen, worked as an independent contractor for different massage offices, but Jensen is now very excited to have her own space in an office next to Margaret Dillon, a holistic psychotherapist.

Jensen is a graduate graduate of the Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy, where she received honors in both hands-on skills and academics. She is known for her palpation skills, and her sessions often place special emphasis on myofascial work and deep tissue massage. Her interests in massage center on specific work improving injury recovery, reducing pain and promoting healthy movement. Jensen has advanced training in Orthopedic Massage and has been a member of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) since 2007.

Jensen grew up on Cape Cod and developed a love for swimming and biking while living alongside the ocean. Her passion for movement and discovery lead her to cycle touring, which enabled her to explore the United States while meeting “numerous wonderful people.”

“As an adventure cyclist, I recognized the incredible power of the human body. That, combined with a strong desire to work with others in order to encourage healthy movement, brought me into the field of massage,” Jensen explained.

Jensen utilizes deep tissue massage, myofascial release, active and passive movement techniques and stretching to address acute and chronic pain, to assist in injury rehabilitation and to promote overall mobility.

Jensen has been member of the Connecticut AMTA Sports Massage Team since 2007 and has been the Sports Massage Team coordinator for the Steeple Chase Bike Tour for the past three years. Whether it’s working with recreational athletes or professional athletes, Jensen says she is committed to supporting clients in reaching their body’s optimal functioning level.
