Guilty Verdicts Delivered In Coventry Box Cutter Home Invasion Trial
A man accused of trying bust his way into a Coventry home has been found guilty of several crimes.

COVENTRY, CT — A man accused of trying to storm his way into a Coventry h0me while wielding a box cutter has been found guilty of several crimes.
Tolland Judicial District State's Attorney Matthew C. Gedansky said that Devin McConnell, 57, previously of Coventry, was found guilty by a jury Friday of attempted home invasion, carrying a dangerous weapon and second-degree threatening.
After the jury rendered the verdicts, McConnell entered a guilty before Judge Richard J. Rubino to being a persistent offender of crimes involving assault, Gedansky said.

According to evidence introduced at trial, on the morning of July 27, 2023, McConnell left a series of threatening statements recorded on the voicemail of a Coventry resident, including a threat of bodily harm.
McConnell, shortly thereafter, went to the home and could be seen on a home surveillance system pounding on the door and windows multiple times with a stick while attempting to enter the home, according top case records.

McConnell was armed with a box cutter during the tirade, according to case records.
Coventry police arrived quickly and were able to apprehend McConnell at the scene.
"The state would like to thank the jury for their time and careful consideration of the evidence to see that justice was done for the victims and the Coventry community, and to thank the Coventry Police Department for their diligent investigation into these criminal acts," Assistant State's Attorney Jonathan Shaw said.
Shaw prosecuted the case.
Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 26 in Rockville Superior Court.
