Jamelle Elliott Inducted Into UConn School Of Business Hall of Fame

HARTFORD, CT — University of Connecticut women's basketball alumna and current assistant coach Jamelle Elliott was inducted into the UConn School of Business Hall of Fame Friday at the School's annual ceremony in the Hartford Downtown Marriott.

Elliott has been an instrumental piece of the UConn women’s basketball dynasty as both a student-athlete and coach. She helped UConn to its first-ever NCAA Women's Basketball Championship in 1995 as a player. As an assistant coach, she guided UConn to five additional championships in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2009.

Elliott just finished her 16th season on the bench in Storrs.

A four-year letter-winner, Elliott finished her career ranked No. 2 among UConn’s all-time rebounding leaders (1,054), No. 5 in Big East career rebounding (558) and No. 11 in UConn career scoring (1,387).

Elliott, at the time, became only the second player in UConn history to surpass the 1,000 point and 1,000 rebound milestones. She is among the UConn career leaders for games played with 135, never missing a single game or practice in her four collegiate years. In her four years as a player, UConn posted an overall record of 117-18.

As an assistant for UConn, Elliott has helped mentor 11 All-Americans and four National Players of the Year.

Elliott served as the head coach at Cincinnati from 2009-18. The Bearcats earned two postseason berths and every student-athlete who exhausted their eligibility earned their degree.

After Cincinnati, Elliott returned to UConn to serve as the Associate Athletic Director for The National C Club. The National C Club is an alumni student-athlete organization comprised of UConn’s alumni athletes that competed at least one year while a member of a varsity sport during their time at UConn (www.nationalcclub.com). The C Club's primary objective is to connect alumni athletes with each other as well as UConn’s current student-athletes through mentorship, networking, and internship opportunities.

Elliott is a two-time graduate of UConn. She earned a bachelor's degree in business management in 196 and a master's degree in sport management in 1997.

The UConn School of Business Hall of Fame was established in 1993 to recognize alumni who have achieved outstanding success in their business careers, made a significant impact on their industry or field of business and have been actively involved in their communities.

To date, 150 UConn School of Business alumni have been inducted into the Hall of Fame from around the world and in a myriad of fields and industries. The celebration is the School’s signature event and has proven to have the most valuable networking opportunities, making this a can’t-miss opportunity. More than 200 top School of Business alumni, students, and corporate contacts are in attendance for this special evening.

Inductees into the School of Business Hall of Fame are amongst an elite group of alumni and are chosen through a rigorous selection process which includes review by the dean, special committee, and past Hall of Fame inductees. Only 4-5 distinguished alumni are inducted each year out of the 50,000 — and growing — roster of School of Business undergrad and graduate alumni worldwide.
