Long Eastern Connecticut Sex Assault Investigation Leads to Arrest

Tue arrest was made on Monday, state police said.

WINDHAM, CT β€” State police detectives have arrested a man after a sexual assault investigation in Eastern Connecticut.

State Police detectives assigned to Eastern District Major Crime said the man was from Danielson and the arrest followed a lengthy assault investigation.

The developed a case starting on May 11, 2016 and it involved a now-14-year-old girl, state police said.

The sexual assault was reported to have occurred three years earlier in Willimantic when the victim was 11, state police said.

The assault was reported to state police detectives by the state Department of Children and Families.

Eastern District Major Crime detectives said they identified Shad Morin as the suspect. Upon conclusion of the investigation, detectives applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Morin through the

superior court system, state police said.

On Monday, Morin, 41, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree sexual assault
and risk of injury to a minor, state police said.

Morin was held on $350,000 bond and was to appear at Windham Superior Court Tuesday, state police said.
