Malloy Declares It's 'Husky Weekend' in CT
As the Lady Huskies head to their 8th consecutive NCAA Final Four Tournament, residents statewide are encouraged to show their Husky pride.

As the UConn Lady Huskies head into this weekendβs NCAA Final Four tournament, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy announced Thursday that he is proclaiming Friday, April 3 through Sunday, April 5, as βHusky Weekendβ in the state.
βThe UConn womenβs basketball team leads the nation in strength, spirit and drive, and under the leadership of Geno Auriemma have reached their eighth consecutive Final Four,β Malloy said in a statement. βWe will be cheering the team on this weekend, and I urge all Connecticut residents to show the nation how proud we are of our hometown team. Letβs get behind them β and letβs show the nation what UConn basketball is all about.β
Malloy will extend βHusky Weekendβ through Tuesday if the team makes it to the championship. UConn (36-1) will make its eighth consecutive Final Four appearance when they play the Maryland Terrapins in the Final Four game at 9 p.m. Sunday in Tampa.

βCongratulations to the UConn women and all of our UConn Huskies β you make us proud,β Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman said in a statement. βThese student athletes are leaders, mentors, and an inspiration to so many across Connecticut.β
In his proclamation, Malloy said, βI ask all citizens to show their Husky pride and wish our teams well by wearing UConn Huskies gear, displaying UConn flags and signs, and wearing blue and white.β
