Man Accused Of Client-Staffer Sexual Assault At Natchaug Hospital

A man is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a Natchaug Hospital client when he was a staffer, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT — A 46-year-old Willimantic resident is accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage client while working as a staff member in a Natchaug Hospital program, a state police arrest warrant indicates.

Roy Ricks was arrested Friday on the charge of second-degree sexual assault by someone in charge of the victim, according to a report. He was being held over the weekend on a $50,000 bond and was to appear in court Monday, state police said.

He was 44 and she was 18 at the time, according to case records.

The case dates back to Nov. 6, 2017, when state police were by notified by the state Department of Children and Families about a relationship between a patient and staff member at Natchaug's Journey House, located at 189 Storrs Road. Journey House is a program for adolescent girls who are "involved in the court system," according to a warrant.

The girl "had been convicted as a juvenile delinquent" and was placed in the "secure residential facility as part of her sentence," according to a warrant.

When first contacted by state police, the girl said she and Ricks had exchanged personal information only after she was discharged. As the investigation progressed, though, Ricks was accused of entering the girl's room while she was asleep and performing oral sex on her, according to a warrant. He is also accused of using his hands on the girl, according to a warrant.

The girl told state police Ricks was never threatening, but told her not to tell anyone and she decided to go along with it, according to a warrant. Ricks tolds state police it was consensual. The girl was descibed by one witness as bragging about being "promiscuous," according to a warrant.

The two allegedly exchanged messages after the girl was discharged and the girl eventially told Ricks to cease contacting her, according to a warrant.
