Man Accused of Cutting AC Unit Out of Mansfield Dwelling Under Construction

He was held on a high bond, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT —A man was caught red-handed with an air conditioning unit stolen from a housing development under construction, state police said.

Daniel Rosado, 37, of 29 Circle Drive, was to appear in court on Tuesday after being arrested on May 27, state police said in an arrest report. He has been charged with third-degree criminal trespass, third-degree criminal mischief and fourth-degree larceny, state police said.

At 1:36 a.m. on May 27, state police were called to the Circle Drive area on a report of a suspicious vehicle, according to an arrest report. Troopers then found a Buick with a large air conditioning unit visible in the trunk, according to an arrest report.

Rosado claimed be had purchased the unit, but troopers noticed it had been cut away from a building, an arrest report indicates. Troopers then canvassed the area and matched the unit up with those in a nearby complex being built while locating a damaged dwelling, according to an arrest report.

Rosado was held on a $50,000 bond while awaiting his court appearance, state police said.
