Man Asks to Be Arrested at DUI Stop: State Police

The stop was on a busy road in Mansfield, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT β€” A man not only refused to take a breath test after being pulled over for suspected drunken driving on Friday, but he asked to be arrested, a state police report indicates.

It was 7:29 p.m. when state police stopped 36-year-old Stafford resident Kenneth Coutu on Stafford Road, according to an arrest report. Troopers received a 911 call about a motorist swerving all over the road, according to an arrest report.

According to an arrest report, Coutu admitted to drinking booze and troopers noticed several nip bottles strewn about the car. He then told troopers he was "not OK" to drive and requested to be arrested rather than be tested for sobriety, according to an arrest report.
