Man Found in Shenipsit Lake Identified as Storrs Resident

TOLLAND, CT — State police have identified the man found dead in Shenipsit Lake on Aug. 30 as a 51-year-old from Storrs.

State police announced a positive identification on Robert Cayne of Storrs on Wednesday.

There is no criminal aspect to his death, state police said.

Cayne was was found at 7:23 p.m. on Aug. 30, state police said.

The lake borders parts of Tolland, Vernon and Ellington and is a major source of drinking water for towns served by the Connecticut Water Co. There is road access to the lake.
