Mansfield Hollow Part of First Day Hike Program

On Jan. 1, all 50 states will be participating in the sixth annual national event.

MANSFIELD, CT — Mansfield Hollow State Park will be featured in Connecticut's 2018 First Day Hike program.

On Jan. 1, all 50 states will be participating in the sixth annual national event that encourages everyone to celebrate the New Year with a guided outdoor exploration.

The Mansfield Hollow hike is scheduled for 11 a.m. (arrive by 10:45 AM). Two moderate hikes will be offered — 4.5 miles and 2.2 miles.

Hikers will be meeting in the Mansfield Hollow Recreation Area parking lot.

The event is being sponsored by the Friends of Mansfield Hollow.

First Day Hikes originated more than 25 years ago at the Blue Hills Reservation – a state park in Milton, Massachusetts. Last year, more than 55,000 people participated on guided hikes that covered more than 133,000 miles on 1,100 hikes across the country.
