Mansfield Incident Among the Latest State Police Troop C Log Entries

Troop C's coverage area includes Vernon, Tolland, Ellinington, Somers and Mansfield

TOLLAND, CT β€” Here are the latest arrests from the log book at the state police Troop C barracks:

March 3

TOLLAND/VERNON, CT β€” Jonathan McEwen, 27, of Hartford, was charged with escape from a correctional facility, state police said. He had been assigned to a transitional program in Vernon and skipped out, state police said. He surrendered at Troop C in Tolland after troopers told him through his mother that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

TOLLAND, CT β€”A Derby man with a suspended license is facing a pair of criminal charges after being clocked at better than 110 mph on a stretch of Interstate-84 early Sunday, state police said.
The incident was on Saturday at 3:22 a.m. in I-84 Eastbound at Exit 69 in Tolland, state police said. The state police Troop C barracks are just up the road from the exit. Joseph Staffer, 24, of Derby, was charged with reckless driving and driving while under suspension, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT β€” James Mitchell, 51, of Torrington, was charged with narcotics possession and several motor vehicle violations after police discovered him illegally parked at the Mobil station near Exit 68 on Interstate-84, state police said. Drugs were located in the vehicle, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT β€” Christopher Hand, 40, of Tolland, was charged with narcotics possession after state police found him passed out in a car at the Pub 32 in Mansfield, state police said. Heroin was located in the car after a search, state police said.
