Mansfield Man Accused Of Racking Up Charges On Dead Roomie's Cards
A warrant was served in the case last week.

MANSFIELD, CT β A 33-year-old Mansfield man is facing four criminal charges in a case of charges made to his dead roommate's credit cards, state police said.
Matthew Torres has been charged on a warrant with criminal impersonation, receipt from the illegal use of a credit card, fourth-degree larceny and third-degree identity theft. He posted a $50,000 bond and is due in Rockville Superior Court on April 19, state police said.
The family of the deceased man reported the charges to state police, according to a warrant.

According to a warrant Torres obtained banking information off the deceased man's phone after asking to borrow it to copy pictures for memory purposes, according to a warrant. He then stalled when asked for it back by family members, according to a warrant. Family members then noticed account passwords had been changed.

- Nov. 30 shows receipts for $13.76 and $322.24 at a Walmart
- Dec. 1 shows receipts for $75 (some on a cash back option) at a Walmart, a receipt for a T-Mobile bill for $253 and $69 at a Mobil station
- Dec. 6 shows a receipt for $69.37 at a Mansfield CVS
