Mansfield Memorial Day Parade Canceled
The annual Memorial Day Parade has been canceled due to the public health threat of the new coronavirus, officials announced.

MANSFIELD, CT — The annual Memorial Day Parade in Mansfield has been canceled due to the public health threat of the new coronavirus, officials announced.
“Our first priority is the health and safety of participants and spectators who attend the parade annually,” officials wrote in a news release. “With the CDC’s recommendation to limit public gatherings into the month of May and the uncertainty beyond, we feel it is important to make this difficult decision at this time.
“An alternative to attending a live parade this year is viewing a virtual event either on national television or through a streaming channel. One such program is a pre-recorded television special presented by the American Veterans Center titled, ‘The National Memorial Day Parade: America Stands Tall’ that will be broadcast on television stations nationwide on Memorial Day at 2 p.m. The event will also be streamed live on YouTube.”
