Mansfield Officials: Dogs Must Be Licensed By July 1

Late fees kick in after that date, they said.

MANSFIELD, CT - Town officials are reminding residents that all dog licenses expire on June 30.

Dogs must be licensed by July 1 st to avoid any late fees, they said.

Here are some things to know about dog licensing:

  • The license fee is $19; $8 for spayed and neutered dogs.
  • A current Rabies vaccination certificate is required.
  • There is a $1 penalty per month late fee after June 30.
  • Dogs and cats 3 months and older must have a rabies vaccine whether they are indoors outdoors. Failure to do so can result in a $136 fine per animal.
  • Failure to license may result in a $75 fine per dog.
  • The town of Mansfield conducts a yearly door-to- door survey for unlicensed dogs.
  • Dogs are required to wear license tags - another state law.
  • Dogs wearing tags are 95 percent more likely to be returned to their owners.
