Moonlight Movies Beginning Next Month In Downtown Storrs

STORRS, CT — The Mansfield Downtown Partnership is set to launch its popular Moonlight Movies series on Aug. 5.

The free, outdoor movies series will take place on Betsy Paterson Square in Downtown Storrs Fridays on:

• Aug. 5 - Encanto
• Aug. 12 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
• Aug. 19 Spider - Man: No Way Home

Activities begin at 7:30 p.m. and the movies begin at dusk. Moonlight Movies are free and open to everyone.

Activities before each movie include:

• Aug. 5: An 8-minute, original ballet inspired by Encanto by students from the Mansfield Academy of Dance and a meet-and-greet with the “Casita Sister”
• Aug. 19: Martial arts demo by Villari’s Martial Arts of Mansfield and a cosplay parade - Dress up as your Marvel hero (or villain)! At each movie, there will also be crafts with Mansfield Advocates for Children and lawn games, movie- themed games, and temporary tattoos with the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.

Visitors are invited to bring snacks or bring take-out from one of more than two dozen eateries in Downtown Storrs. There will also be refreshments for sale at the Square, including cold, bottled water from the Mansfield Fire Department, popcorn from the Partnership, and cold treats from the UConn Dairy Bar Ice Cream Truck.
