Murad Named Southern Hoop Captain

The standout from Storrs is leading the Owls at the collegiate level.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Southern Connecticut State University head women's basketball coach Kate Lynch has announced that redshirt senior Murphy Murad of Storrs will serve as a team captain for the 2017-18 campaign.

It's the second straight year that Murad will serve as a team captain.

Last year, she enjoyed her best statistical campaign as an Owl. Murad finished the season averaging 7.9 points, 3.3 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 0.9 steals per game. Murad also led the Owls in three-point field goal percentage (.429).

She has also been recognized for her work in the classroom as a selection to the NE10 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team, as a multiple Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award recipient, and as a multiple selection to the NE10 Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
