New Coventry Police Officer Sworn In

An extensive training period now begins for the new officer.

COVENTRY, CT — The Coventry Police Department has a new officer.

Olivia Beausoleil was sworn in on Tuesday, Chief Mark Palmer said. She was chosen from a pool of more than 100 applicants after successfully completing all the phases of the selection process, including a written examination, an oral examination, a physical agility test, a polygraph, a psychological evaluation and a comprehensive background investigation, he said.

Beausoleil graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. She will begin the POST police academy in Meriden on Dec. 30, Palmer said.

Her tentative graduation date is June 19 and a 12- to 14-week field training program will follow, the chief said.
