New Principal Appointed at Mansfield Middle School

Thanh Nguyen has been appointed the new principal of , effective July 1.

Nguyen, the principal at Griswold Middle School for the past six years, will , Superintendent of Mansfield Schools, Fred Baruzzi said Tuesday.

In addition to his administrative experience, Nguyen has taught special education in Worcester, MA and formerly served as Dean of Students in Federal Way, WA.

"Jeff Cryan has created a strong legacy at MMS and leaves difficult shoes to fill," School Board Chairman Mark LaPlace told Mansfield-Storrs Patch. "I was impressed with Mr. Nguyen’s passion for education, combined with his middle school experience."

Baruzzi described Nguyen as having a “strong passion for the well-being of all students and with abilities to bring excitement, compassion, and a variety of instructional strategies, all designed to improve student learning outcomes.”

In a statement, Baruzzi added that Nguyen will be “dedicated to nurturing and enhancing a professional learning community which will build upon an existing culture of learning and achievement at .”

Baruzzi said Nguyen was chosen to lead the middle school from a group of 56 candidates.

" is a special place, and I certainly look forward to seeing the impact he can make there as he joins our successful administrative team," LaPlaca said.
