Opening Day Looms for E.O. Smith High School Teams

STORRS, CT — High school sports practices have been ongoing for nearly two weeks and preseason scrimmages are in full swing, but the real deal begins Friday - opening day of the regular season for many varsity teams.

Here are the scheduled opening contests for varsity teams at E.O. Smith High School. For a complete season schedule of varsity, JV and freshman teams, visit the CIAC web site.

• boys soccer - Friday, 9/7, at RHAM, 3:45 p.m.
• girls soccer - Friday, 9/7, vs. RHAM, 3:45 p.m.
• girls volleyball - Friday. 9/7, at RHAM, 5 p.m.
• football - Friday, 9/7, at Bristol Eastern, 6 p.m.
• cross country - Saturday, 9/8, at Windham Invitational, 8 a.m.
• girls swimming - Tuesday, 9/11, at Plainville, 4 p.m.
• field hockey - Wednesday, 9/12, vs. Windsor, 3:45 p.m.
