Poetic Release: Poetry Slam featuring Jamila Woods

A Pushcart Prize nominee, Jamila’s work has been published in MUZZLE, Radius, and Third World Press. She is a founding member of the Dark Noise Collective, a multiracial, interdisciplinary group of spoken word artists & performers.

New School Poetics Press released “The Truth About Dolls,” her first chapbook, in 2012. Jamila currently serves as Associate Artistic Director of Young Chicago Authors, an organization committed to youth poetry & writing, and is a founding member of the Teaching Artist Corps.
