Trailing 6-1 to start the fourth quarter, Pomfret dug deep, determined to end the season on a positive note, and rallied for seven unanswered goals to be crowned back-to-back Colonial Tournament Champions. Challenged at the final stanza to bring composure and leadership to a senior-laden squad, Pomfret soared on the wings of faceoff specialist, Dylan Weichselbaumer, coupled with outstanding wing play from LSM's Luke Weber and Tucker Sheehan (1,0). Weichselbaumer won seven of eight in the quarter, and dished out on assist as well. Beny Huckaby started the rally one minute into the fourth quarter on a determined individual effort.
After a long defensive stand, Pomfret pushed transition as Luke Kammerman (0,2) threaded the needle to defensive middie specialist, Harry Browne (1,0), for Harry's first goal of the season. The bench erupted and Pomfret knew then that we had a ball game. Wells Robinson (3,0) picked up a loose ball on the crease for his first of three in the quarter. Just :37 seconds later, Robinson found net again on the extra-man, and the deficit was cut to 6-5. Peyton Durand (1,1) fed a streaking Huckaby and teams were locked at six with 6:16 remaining.

With renewed confidence, Pomfret executed the offense to perfection as Robinson posted-up his man with 4:26 on the clock for the eventual game winner. Facing a man-down situation with just over a minute remaining, the Pomfret D held tight and forced a turnover. After a quick restart, Peyton Durand forced through an extended Gunnery defensive for a one-on -one goal. Pomfret had to withstand one final Gunnery rush, but ran out the clock and the celebration ensued.
The Colonial championship capped off an excellent 14-4 season. Fourteen seniors will move on from the Hilltop and we are excited to watch many compete next year.
