Popular Mansfield Restaurant Wrecked By Fire
A popular restaurant in Mansfield that featured homestyle cooking is closed after a fire Monday.

MANSFIELD, CT — A popular restaurant in Mansfield was wrecked by a Fire Monday, but the owners have vowed to rebound.
The fire broke out at about 2 p.m. at Gramma's Comfort Foods at 452 Stafford Road. Authorities reported heavy smoke and flames visible from the building, which also has a residential element on the top floor.
Route 32 was closed for some time as firefighters worked at the scene. One firefighter turned an ankle while battling the blaze and two cats in the apartment did not make it, authorities said.

A message from the restaurant on social media Tuesday morning said, "Saddens me to let y'all know Grammas is permanently closed due to structure fire. Please pray for is as we are devastated. We love you all that supported over the 4.5 years."
Gramma's has been prosperous after a management change in 2017.

Ownership was already pointing to the horizon.
"Thank you to all the dedicated customers over the years and all the beautiful faces and personalities we got to meet," a social media post said. "Hopefully in the future we will see everyone at a new establishment. And to all the employees who helped make grammas possible, thank you."
Customers were lamenting the loss in the restaurant's Facebook page.Comments included:
