Pursuit In Hartford, West Hartford Could Be Connected To UConn Robbery

STORRS, CT β€” It appears the same vehicle that was involved in an armed robbers at the University of Connecticut Thursday was the same one chased down by authorities after a pursuit and crash in West Hartford and Hartford Friday morning.

UConn officials said the robbery took place just after 5 p.m. in a parking to at the Hilltop Apartments. A vehicle fled the scene, officials said.

UConn officials said that, on Friday morning, camps police we were notified that a person matching the description of one of the suspects was taken into police custody after a collision in Hartford, and another was being sought. That collision involved a vehicle that also matches the description of a vehicle driven by suspects during the on-campus incident, officials said.

The UConn and Hartford police departments believe the suspects and incident are connected with the Storrs crime, and will work with the State's Attorney’s Office "to seek criminal prosecution," officials said.

"Further information cannot be released at this time. However, we want to assure you that the safety of our campus community is our highest priority, and that this case remains under active investigation," UConn police said in a letter to the university community. "We also recognize these reports may evoke emotional responses in others who were not directly involved, but who may have experienced other crimes or difficult events."
