The case:Β Police charged a Middletown man with sixth-degree larceny after a loss prevention officer saw him stealing food from the local Stop & Shop, according to police.

The twist:Β Police said the man switched the tags from theΒ previous day’s baked goods onto his purchase of lobster and snow crabs while checking out. He was buying a seafood dinner to impress his date, scheduled for later that evening, police report.

Not Enough Dough

The case:Β Police charged a Vernon man with sixth-degree larceny and breach of peace, according to police.

The twist:Β The man was charged afterΒ ordering a sandwich at the South Windsor Blimpie, telling the staff that he couldn’t afford to payΒ and then taking a seat to eat his meal, police said. The same suspect facedΒ new charges in a separate incident later in the week for trying to drive away in a car that didn’t belong to him, police report.

Phone Thief Suspect β€˜App’rehended

The case:Β Police charged a South Windsor man with sixth-degree larceny for stealing an iPhone, according to police.

The twist:Β OfficersΒ recovered the phone after the owner activated the β€œFind my iPhone” app, which makes the phone ring shrilly,according to police. Officers report that the man then turned the device off, but not before calling for a cab. Police said they were able to trace the phone to the suspect’s hotel.

Mopey on a Moped

The case:Β Middletown police charged an Old Saybrook man with driving under the influence, according to police.

The twist:Β Police wereΒ called to the Middletown CVS after the accused spit on a man trying to rent a Redbox movie, and called the man and his wife β€œhomeless,” police said.Β He then left on his scooter and was disconsolate when officers arrived, according to police.

A Tribute to β€˜Thelma & Louise’?

The case:Β West Hartford police charged two women with theft of firearms, weapons in vehicle, second-degree breach of peace, and a number of other charges, police report.

The twist:Β The women areΒ facing charges after confronting one of the duo’s boyfriend, who they say cheated and impregnated another woman, police said. A handgun, bullets, ballistic helmet and marijuana were all found in the trunk of a car belonging to a suspect, according to police.
