UPDATE: 2 Die in Car, Garbage Truck Crash in Mansfield

Lifestar helicopters and state police responded to the accident scene.

Update: 2:35 p.m.

The two people who were in a car that was involved in a crash with a garbage truck at Route 195 and Frontage Road, just south of East Brook Mall, have died.

The unidentified victims were taken from the scene by two Lifestar helicopters following the crash about 10:30 a.m. Monday. Both victims have died, according to WTIC and The Hartford Courant.

The road is expected to remain closed while police and state officials conduct their investigation, according to the reports.

Update: 12:50 p.m.:

Two medical helicopters reportedly were going to land near the Eastbrook Mall after a car and garbage truck collided on Route 195.

One helicopter reportedly will land in an Eastern Connecticut State University ballfield, and the other will land at Windham Hospital, 112 Mansfield Ave., Willimantic, according to The Hartford Courant.

A state truck inspector has also been called to the scene.

Two people were injured in a crash on Storrs Road in Mansfield Monday morning.

LifeStar is responded to the scene as did Connecticut State Police, according to NBC Connecticut.
