Report Ranks Storrs as the 15th Best College Town in the U.S.

WalletHub put together a list of the best college towns based on several factors.

STORRS, CT — The home of the University of Connecticut is the 15th best college town in the country, according to the latest survey by the Web site WalletHub.

WalletHub graded 415 U.S. cities and towns on 26 subject matters like students per capita, cost of living, crime rate, housing costs, and part-time work while a student and earning potential after graduation.

The rankings also included indicators focused on academic and economic opportunities such as earning potential and unemployment rate.

Here are the top 15:

  2. East Lansing, MI
  3. West Lafayette, IN
  4. Athens, OH
  5. Amherst, MA
  6. Clemson, SC
  7. Ann Arbor, MI
  8. Newark, DE
  9. Charlottesville, VA
  10. College Station, TX
  11. Durham, NH
  12. Atlanta, GA
  13. Ithaca, NY
  14. Ames, IA
  15. Storrs, CT

Storrs ranked No. 2 for having the highest share of part-time jobs but next-to-last in the "brain drain" category.

Storrs was ranked No. 7 for academic and economic opportunities and 49th for social environment.

There were a few quirky comparisons, like Storrs ranking No. 2 in students per capital but No. 410 in nightlife options with UConn being situated in Mansfield among the rolling hills of eastern Connecticut and Las Vegas ranking No. 411 in students per capita but tied for first in nightlife options with UNLV situated right next door to the Vegas Strip.
