Report: State Police Snag Woman With Heroin in Vehicle as Eastern Connecticut Sweep Continues
State police said they were tipped off by a car with equipment violations.

POMFRET, CT — State police said they intercepted a car being used in a heroin delivery operation.
At 6:18 p.m. on Tuesday, members of the Troop-D Quality of Life Task Force were conducting what state police described as a "narcotic interdiction" on Route 44 in Pomfret, according to .
Troopers stopped a vehicle as it turned onto Day Road in Pomfret for what they described as "several motor vehicle violations."

Troopers the recognized two of the passengers from a recent narcotics search warrant they had executed in Thompson over the summer, according to a news release.
The Troopers interviewed the two front male passengers and the rear female passenger and "became suspicious" that they were involved in trafficking heroin from Hartford to Pomfret, according to a news release.

The rear female passenger, identified as 19-year-old Margaret Williams, of Ravenelle Street in Thompson, admitted to having heroin "on her person" and subsequently turned over a clear plastic baggie containing a small block of heroin, according to a news release.
Williams was arrested and transported to Troop D in Danielson where she was charged with possession of
heroin, state police said.
Williams was processed and released on a $2,500 cash-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Oct. 26, state police said.
