School Teacher from Mansfield Faces DUI Charge Following Crash That Injured 2

A 78-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash on Route 32 in Willimantic.

A school teacher who lives in Mansfield is expected to appear in court Thursday following her arrest for driving under the influence in connection with a crash that left two people injured, including a 78-year-old pedestrian.

Jessica Duers, 44, was arrested for driving under the influence and second-degree assault with a motor vehicle, following the crash near the McDonalds on Route 32 in Willimantic on Wednesday afternoon, according to WTIC. A 78-year-old pedestrian was seriously injured and a passenger in another car also was injured.

Duers, a life skills teacher at the Horace W. Porter School in Columbia who has three previous DUI convictions, was unable to post $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, according to the report which can be found here.
