Driver Killed In Crash On Route 275 Near Coventry-Mansfield Line

A one-car crash on Route 275 took the life of the driver, police said.

COVENTRY, CT — A one-car crash took the life of a motorist and closed a section of Route 275 at the Mansfield-Coventry line for about two hours Wednesday night, Coventry police said.

Coventry Police sent out a report on the crash at 5:20 p.m. They termed the crash "serious." The accident involved a single vehicle that left the road for "an unknown reason," Coventry police said.

The driver was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Coventry police said. At 9:22 p.m., a police spokesman said the driver "did not survive." The driver's identity was not being released Wednesday night.

Route 275 was closed from Old Eagleville Road in Coventry to the Mansfield town line while a Metro Traffic Services accident reconstruction team and Coventry police investigated. Police opened the road back up at about 7:20 p.m.
