Shea Ralph, Geno Auriemma Reuniting In New UConn-Vandy Series

A traditional power (UConn) is hooking up with a new power (Vanderbilt) in a series announced Wednesday.

STORRS, Conn. – The University of Connecticut women’s basketball team will begin a two-game series with Vanderbilt in the 2027-28 season, the programs announced Wednesday.

UConn will host the Commodores in the 2027-28 season before traveling to Nashville in 2028-29.

Vanderbilt is coached by UConn alumna and former assistant coach Shea Ralph. As a player for head coach Geno Auriemma from 1996 to 2001, Ralph helped the Huskies to the 2000 NCAA Championship and was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. As a coach from 2008-21 for UConn, she assisted the Huskies to six national championships.

This season, top-ranked UConn and No. 5 Vanderbilt are the two remaining undefeated teams in Division I.

UConn is 6-2 all-time vs. Vanderbilt. The teams last met on Nov. 13, 2020, in Nashville, a 64-51 win for the Huskies.
