Special Weather Statement Issued for Mansfield
After a one day break from storms, we're back at it Tuesday and we'll give you the latest info on when the storms may occur today.

A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has been issued for all of Connecticut Tuesday for the chance of some strong to severe thunderstorms, especially this afternoon.
It appears the strongest chance for strong to severe storms will be in Hartford and Tolland counties, as the National Weather Service has issued a “Special Weather Statement” for the northern part of the state.
On Monday, it seemed very likely that a good part of the state would have some stormy weather Tuesday, but now it appears to once again be an isolated situation.

In a social media post Tuesday morning, NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan updates the complicated forecast.
“Really complex setup for today. A warm front is lifting toward Connecticut with a surge of more oppressively humid air. Yesterday it appeared that storms would fire up as the front moved through but today our computer models have really backed off on the storm chances,” Hanrahan wrote. “Still, we have a chance for scattered thunderstorms from midday through this evening across the state. The environment is ripe for severe weather (damaging winds, lightning, heavy rain, and tornadoes) but the question is will any storms form? We'll keep you posted as we know more.”

Here is the latest information via the National Weather Service:
Southern Connecticut:
Thunderstorms may be capable of damaging wind gusts and torrential downpours. If there is severe weather it’s expected between 11 and 4 and after that there could be some showers. Temps will be around 85 degrees with mostly cloudy skies.
Hartford and Tolland counties:
Severe thunderstorms are possible here. Strong to severe storms may hit the area late this morning and into early afternoon, which would include strong winds and heavy rain. A second round of thunderstorms is possible in the evening hours too, but there is less confidence that this will materialize, the weather service states.
The weather service says with the earlier thunderstorms a brief pop-up tornado is possible.
The updated forecast for Connecticut the rest of the week:
Wednesday through Saturday looks very good with temps in the mid to upper 80s with sunshine. A slim chance of storms Thursday night and on Sunday there will be sunshine but a 50-50 chance of thunderstorms and showers during the day.
We’ll continue to update the forecast.
