Special Weekend Weather Statement Issued for Mansfield

The National Weather Service has issued some advisories as some areas of the state may feel close to 100 degrees.

Now it’s beginning to feel a lot like summer in Connecticut as we’re looking at a very, very hot and humid weekend.

Temperatures will be in the 90s throughout the state and in Hartford and Tolland counties and we could approach 100 degrees on Friday.

We’re also looking at a chance for some isolated thunderstorms on Saturday afternoon and evening. The chance for storms is low though.

In reality, there is no real significant rain chance in the forecast through next Thursday, except for some showers and storms possible late Monday into Tuesday morning.

An “Air Quality Alert” is in effect from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday for all of southern Connecticut because of the hot and humid conditions.

In Hartford and Tolland counties a “Special Weather Statement” has been issued by the National Weather Service saying the heat index will approach 100 degrees Friday.

The National Weather Service urges residents living there to “drink plenty of fluids...stay in an air-conditioned room...stay out of the sun...and check in on relatives and neighbors.”

Here’s a detailed look at the weekend forecast for CT via the National Weather Service:

Friday: Mostly sunny with temps in the mid 90s on the coast and upper 90s inland.

Saturday: Mostly sunny with temps in the upper 80s on the coast and low 90s inland. A small chance of some storms in the afternoon and evening hours. Very hit and miss.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with temps in the mid 80s at the coast and upper 80s inland.

Monday: Mostly sunny with temps in the mid 80s at the coast to around 90 degrees inland.
