State Charges Man After Wild Willimantic Chase

WILLIMANTIC, CT — A New Britain man is facing nine criminal charges after a wild scene in Willimantic on Tuesday that began with a residential break-in, continued with a game of vehicular pinball down a local road and shots fired by police and ended with his apprehension after fleeing on foot, state police said.
The incident involving 56-year-old Ordro Fletcher began to unravel at 2:09 p.m. when Willimantic police responded to an active burglary at 44 Ashland St., according to a state police arrest report. When arriving at the scene, Willimantic officers saw Fletcher, of New Britain, fleeing the scene in a vehicle, according to the state police report.
A chase ensued and Fletcher hit several Willimantic police cruisers as well as several parked cars during the pursuit, according to a state police report.

A Willimantic officer fired his service weapon at the Fletcher's vehicle, state police said.
He then fled on foot, but was located and taken into custody, according to state police report.
The Windham County state's attorney asked the State Police Eastern District Major Crime Squad to assist Willimantic police with the case and Fletcher wound up with charges on the state level, according to a report.

He was held overnight on a $250,000 bond and was to appear in Danielson Superior Superior Court on Wednesday.
