State Police Break Up Party Involving Hundreds In Mansfield

A party involving 150 to 200 college-aged people ended with three people receiving infractions.

MANSFIELD, CT — State troopers issued infraction tickets to three people who hosted a party of 150 to 200, according to a police statement. Police were called to the 160 Birch Road address Saturday at 11:24 p.m. for a complaint of a large, loud party.

Troopers found the disturbance and saw numerous college-aged people inside the home. The home's renters admitted to hosting the large party, according to police. People at the party were not wearing masks or socially distancing.

The three renters were issued infraction tickets for hosting a large gathering in violation of the state's pandemic regulations.

The University of Connecticut released a statement noting that it will use information from state police to determine whether those involved in the large off-campus gathering are university students.

If they are, the university said it will address this incident through the student conduct process.

Eleanor JB Daugherty, UConn dean of students, released a statement regarding the gathering: "The University has not yet received information about this incident from the Connecticut State Police, including names of those individuals who were issued the infractions. Receiving this information will enable the University to determine whether or not those cited are UConn students. If they are, the University will address this incident through the student conduct process."
