HEBRON, CT — State Police are investigating the death of a 77-year-old man after a "medical emergency" on a popular hiking and recreational trail in eastern Connecticut.

On Monday afternoon, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's Environmental Conservation police, along with state police from the Troop K barracks and and local fire/EMS and personnel, responded to a report of a medical emergency on the Air Line Trail State Park in Hebron.

CPR was performed on the 77-year-old man by a bystander, DEEP officials said.

.The man was transported to Middlesex Health’s Marlborough Medical Center, where physicians pronounced him deceased, DEEP officials said.

The name of the deceased is withheld pending notifications.The DEEP and EnCon Police are investigating the incident, officials said.

"There is no apparent criminal aspect to this incident," DEEP officials said.
