State Police Make Arrests Related to September Fight in Mansfield, Including UConn Football Lineman

The charges include assault and attempted extortion, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT — State police have arrested three people for their roles in a fight on Daleville Road in September, an arrest report indicates.

Police were dispatched to 49 Daleville Road at 11 p.m. on Sept. 17 for a disturbance in which five people were injured.

The incident also involved an attempted extortion, state police said.

Charged were were:

  • Mateo Jacome, 19, of Andover, MA, for criminal attempt to commit first-degree larceny by extortion.
  • Brian Cespedes, 20, of New London for breach of peace and third-degree assault.
  • Felton Blackwell, 19, of Upper Marlboro, MD, for third-degree assault and breach of peace.

Cespedes is a lineman on the UConn football team. He is listed at 6-foot-7, 313 pounds on the roster.

Several witnesses offered testimony in the investigation, state police said.
