State Police Shoot Armed Man During Altercation in Mansfield
An altercation broke out on Storrs Road and a "suspect" was shot, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT — State police said a trooper shot an armed man during a disturbance on Storrs Road Tuesday night.
At about 7:30 p.m., troopers responded to Storrs Road in Mansfield for a disturbance involving a man with a gun, state police said.
Troopers began to approach the residence and the man fired at the troopers and the troopers returned fire striking the suspect, he said.

The suspect was then detained and transported to an area hospital via Life Star helicopter for treatment, a state police spokesman said.
No troopers were shot, however one trooper sustained a minor injury.

At the request of the Hartford State's Attorney Office, detectives from Western District Major Crime squad responded to the scene and have assumed the investigation, state police said.
The troopers involved have been placed on administrative assignment, the spokesman said.
Additionally the Bureau of Professional Standards will be conducting a separate administrative investigation into this incident, he said.
State police are not releasing the exact address of the incident, citing an ongoing investigation.
