STORRS, CT — A University of Connecticut Student was hit by a car while attempting to use a crosswalk in Storrs Tuesday night, according to a state police crash report.

The incident took place at 10:38 p.m., state police said.

According to a crash report, a 37-year-old Ashford woman driving a 2020 Toyota Camry was traveling north on Storrs Road. The Camry approached the crosswalk in the area of Oak Hill Road and struck a 19-year-old Bridgeport woman, according to a crash report. She was confirmed by authorities as being a UConn student.

The student was was attempting to cross the road in the area of the crosswalk, state police said. She sustained minor injuries and was transported Hartford hospital as a precaution, according to a crash report.

The driver of the Camry was not injured and refused medical attention at the scene, state police said. The driver told state police she "did not see the pedestrian walking in the roadway," according to a crash report.

The driver and a witness at the scene both stated that the crosswalk lights were not flashing
at the time of the collision, according to a crash report.
