MANSFIELD, CT — A car being driven by a suspected drunken driver took out construction materials in a fenced off area in Mansfield last week, state police said.

State police released details of the Feb. 25 incident this week.

At about 3:13 p.m. that day, a 2023 Subaru Impreza with a 24-year-old Wethersfield man behind the wheel was traveling east on Route 275. When approaching the Maple Road intersection, the driver failed to negotiate a turn, ran off the road and slammed into temporary fencing in a construction zone, according to a crash report.

The car also collided with "miscellaneous construction materials," in the same area, according to a crash report.

The driver was not injured, but state police charged him with driving under the influence.
