MANSFIELD, CT — A teen driving a performance car is facing a criminal charge after he was clocked at 90 mph on a curvy, country road in Mansfield Tuesday, state police said.

At 9:34 a.m., a state trooper observed a white Dodge Charger SXT with a Connecticut registration traveling eastbound on Chaffeeville Road in Mansfield, state police said. The Dodge was clocked at speeds between 80 and 90 mph in a posted 30 MPH zone, according to a state police report.

The Dodge was observed maneuvering around sharp curves on the wet road at a high rate of speed, state police said. The trooper stopped the car in the area of Mulberry Road and the 19-year-old driver admitted to speeding, according to a police report. His address is listed in a state police report as Mansfield.

The driver was charged with reckless driving, was released on a $2,500 bond and is scheduled for a Sept. 9 arraignment in Rockville Superior Court.
