Thunderstorm Chance Today; Updated Weekend Weather for Mansfield

Fall is officially here. OK, it began yesterday, but the temps will start to feel fall-like this weekend with temps even into the 40s at night.

But before we get to the weekend, summer may go out with a bit of a bang as showers and thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon and evening.

This doesn’t appear to be a major event as no advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service. The chance for thunderstorms is 40 percent in southern Connecticut but once you move into Hartford and Tolland counties the chances increase to 60 percent.

And once we get to Saturday the forecast is typical for fall, temps near 70 and plenty of sunshine over the next several days. It will be chilly this weekend at night with temps falling back into the mid to upper 40s in southern Connecticut and near 40 in northern Connecticut.

Here is a look at the next several days via the National Weather Service:

Friday: Mostly sunny, temps in the low to mid 80s. Thunderstorms and showers possible later this afternoon and evening.

Saturday: Clouds burn off and the sun appears with a high around 70. Chilly at night with temps in the upper 40s. In northern Connecticut temps could dip to the low 40s.

Sunday: More sunshine with temps in the upper 60s and again chilly at night with temps in the upper 40s. In northern Connecticut temps could dip again into the low 40s.

Monday: More sunshine and temps in the upper 60s.

And since we’re in the midst of a drought, there is no real significant rain chances through next through Wednesday.
