  • What is a Fair Rent Commission?
    • In 2022, the Connecticut state legislature passed a public act requiring all municipalities with a population greater than 25,000 to adopt a fair rent commission ordinance. The essence of the ordinance is to create a commission that has the power to restrict rental charges in residential housing that are “so excessive as to be harsh and unconscionable.” The commission will hold hearings and make decisions in response to tenant complaints.
